Midway “punishes” 1UP for low scores by not giving them games to review
Where’s 1UP’s Mortal Kombat Wii review? Midway has decided to not send 1UP review code at all as some sort of punishment. The message? “Give us better scores, or we won’t support you.” So 1UP’s getting it’s own copy from the store to review.
Ha, this is the downfall of civilization as we know it. 1up not getting a early copy of a game that’s been out for six month’s on older platform’s is pretty much a joke. Even if the new wii-mote controls are actually any good it’s still not worth it for 1up to kiss Midways ass,and for what? To get exposure for there games that will get exposure by 1up’s own will regardless. Give me a break!
Euro PS3 Scraps Hardware Backwards Compatibility
In other words: Europe’s screwed. Don’t trade in that PS2 if you’ve had that thought in your head.
EGM and 1UP for sale, Ziff Davis doesn’t want them anymore.
So who’s going to buy them and how soon? We don’t know. If the Iraqis don’t trade oil for it, we can only presume a media giant like AOL or maybe one of those half-hearted cable companies with gaming sites will want it. Either way, brace yourself for lameness and an onslaught of half true press releases from those that made it out alive.
This really stinks if anyone ends up losing there jobs through this. OPM already went through this.I would hate to see another Techtv/G4 debacle happen here as well. I’m not as much a EGM fan as I’m mainly a fan of the 1up network. I’ve previously let it be known of my feeling towards people like Shane Bettenhausen, but people like Luke Smith, Karen Chu, Ryan O’Donnell, James Mielke (as full of himself as he seems), Dan Hsu, John Davison, Garnett Lee, as well as many others have given so much to the gaming community it would be a down right crime to let it disappear.
1up Yours is one of my most looked forward to podcast/netcast every week. If it were to seize to exist I’ll cry bloody murder for as long and far as need be for the 1up Network to stay intact as is, without Shane of course. Not to slander Shane,but I just can’t stand him. I know I’m not alone in this. Anyway, I hope all goes well for everyone’s sake.

Gamespot gives Gears of War a Spectacular 9.6
says all: Gears of War is an outstanding technical achievement, but in addition to looking and sounding amazing, it’s a seriously awesome action game.
I can’t say I’m surprised by this at all. I have been waiting for this game for a very, very, very long time. I wouldn’t accept anything less. The surprising thing to me is that 1up gave it a 10. Now that’s a shock.
1up has PS3’s in da house!
The lovely folks over at 1up.com have revealed there dirty little secret. They have a PS3 before I do. WTF, but seriously good for them. I find it really strange that they have just now received them. Isn’t the PlayStation 3 on sale in less than two weeks? Now they can tell me and everyone else why I should shell out the big bucks for this machine.
PS3 Rachet and Clank finally confirmed as in production.
Anyone waiting for there next-gen Ratchet and Clank have no fear. In a recent email newsletter released by Insomniac, they have in a way confirmed that there much loved franchise Ratchet and Clank is in full production for the PlayStation 3.
Those of you who are waiting for some Ratchet & Clank news, here’s a quick update. We are in full production on our R&C PlayStation 3 game. That’s all we can share at this time, but you’ll be hearing and seeing more from us in the not-so-distant future.
Halo 3: First Details Emerge
New maps, new weapons, new SKUs, new control schemes.
New this and new that is all good, but I just want a real ending this time. I can’t state enough how mad I was when I finished Halo 2. “Finish this fight my ass”. “Finish with a real fucking ending”. Another thing to note is that they better not have a gravity gun in this thing. That other game when your in room after room in the dark already stole that idea. Finally, you better be able to use your flashlight at the same time as your gun. Don’t let me or the Halo community down Bungie. I’d hate to hear what Podtacular would do then. Arnold Schwarzenegger might have to terminate Bungie if Halo 3 is a flop. Dah!
PS3s Overheating, Sony stock cooling
At TGS, the PS3s on display had more than their share of errors. A Sony spokeswoman stated that ay irregularities stemmed from poor ventilation and concentrated heat of 200 PS3 units being so close together. An analyst for Macquaire Equities stated “We are concerned that such a negative problem has occurred so close to full production”
Funny how I don’t remember not one article from 1up mentioning this happening at TGS before. What a nice bit of information for them to omit. Come on Shane! Why didn’t you mention this on the 1up Show if this indeed did happen?
Shane Bettenhausen is in my dog house for sure now!
As of a day and a half ago I was dead set on writing a very long post about the injustice I had just watched on the latest The 1up Show. I now feel that I shouldn’t waste mine or anybody else’s time reading what I orignally had in mine for this post, so I leave you all with this. I never really liked Shane Bettenhausen before seeing this latest show, but now he has seriously gone off the deep end.
Sure, I don’t know him personally, but I really don’t give a crap. He must have done some right things to have risen to an Editor of Electronic Gaming Monthly, but how can he make himself sound so biased? Nothing he says usually resonates we me for very long until now. I knew I was in for a one sided talk when I noticed everyone at the make shift round-table at the end of the show was from OPM alongside Shane. Let’s hope this never happens again.
I know that Karen Chu a.k.a momopeche over a 1up.com made a comment on this blog not to long ago. I would like to know what she thinks about Shane. Ryan O’Donnell is probably the person over at 1up or Gamevideos that I like the most. With that being said, I demand that Shane be edited out of every 1up Show from now on before he makes my head explode into out right rage and insanity. I know Ryan largely has creative control over The 1up Show, so make it happen Ryan.
